Harry Potter Fails to Dethrone Halo 2
A young wizard takes on Master Chief and comes up a little short.
Some said that the release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince this past weekend would be the biggest day in entertainment history, surpassing even Halo 2's impressive debut. It didn't.
J.K. Rowling's second-last book about the wizard-in-training brought in about $100 million in the US this weekend, which, while impressive, is far short of the $125 million Halo 2 made on its first day.
Don't expect to see the latest tale from Hogwarts on any screens for a while, though, as the movie and game adaptations for the Harry Potter series are running well behind the books.
Potter's next video game adventure, a retelling of the events in the fourth book, will be in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The game will be out for all current home consoles and PSP, DS and PC this November.
