Sony Ups Handheld Game Prices
Not unexpected, but still disappointing.
It's well known that the £180 PSP is the most powerful and expensive portable around, but there were still hopes that games for the handheld would be similarly priced to the current standard. It was not to be.
Sony has revealed to UK trade paper MCV that PSP owners can expect to pay more for portable games than they have before.
Ape Academy, Everybody's Golf, Medievil Resurrection, Ridge Racer, Wipeout Pure and World Tour Soccer will all sell for £34.99 when they launch alongside the PSP on 1 September.
PSP games currently sell for between $40 (£23) and $50 (£29), excluding tax, in the US, making prices in the UK roughly comparable.
Prospective PSP owners can also look forward to buying movies for their new handhelds. Nineteen movies are planned to be on shelves for launch day, with new releases costing £19.99 and older movies setting you back £17.99.
