Life changed irreversibly for scrawny Ippo Makunouchi the day he met professional boxer Takamura Mamoru. With no self-esteem and no skills to speak of, Ippo was bullied mercilessly his entire life, but his encounter with Takamura would give him direction and take him down a new and decidedly more adventurous path.
Victorious Boxers 2 Fighting Spirit Unleashed is the latest game based on the 15-year-old Japanese phenomenon Hajime no Ippo. The franchise has been hailed in both its manga and anime forms and there have been several video games over the years too.
The game features a deep story mode that lets you take on all the challengers from Ippo's bloody past. Once unlocked in story mode, the characters are then available in the knockout tournament and one-shot exhibition modes, and you'll even be able to alter their stats to better suit your style.
Victorious Boxers 2 Fighting Spirit Unleashed will be out for PlayStation on 26 August.
