A Million Gamers Take to the Battlefield
The latest in DICE's popular shooter series cracks the big one.
If you've noticed the killing fields in Battlefield 2 getting busier these days, you're not alone. After a strong start earlier this year, the game has left shelves whizzing ever since, with more than a million copies sold according to EA.
Battlefield 2 is a contemporary sequel to widely-hailed World War II shooter Battlefield 1942. The game has been especially well received by critics, but the popular support has been there too.
EA's numbers show the game selling 1.2 million copies around the world since its debut in June. This brings total sales for the franchise, developed by Swedish design house Digital Illusions, to 7.2 million copies.
The core Battlefield series has so far been exclusive to PC, but Digital Illusions is working on a version of the game for release on current and next-generation home consoles later this year.
