Sexed Up Sega Classics Head to PS2
If OutRun 2 isn't doing it for you, perhaps a spin in a repolished version of the old one will.
It's a sad fact that many of today's avid gamers weren't even born when Sega was in its prime in the late '80s and early '90s, but the resurgence of retro gaming means there's no reason not to try the games that made the company famous.
Sega Classics Collection is, as the name suggests, a compilation of the some of the seminal games from Sega's bright and colourful archive that is bound to have many of today's aging gamers leaning back to reminisce about their reckless youth.
The collection contains eight titles that previously rocked arcades and then Master Systems and Mega Drives around the world, and they're a testament to the validity of the gameplay-over-graphics argument. But just in case, Sega has bumped up the graphics and sound for each of the games.
See for yourself what the fuss was about when Sega Classics Collection lands on PlayStation 2 on 28 October. Below is the full list of the games included:
- Golden Axe (1989) - fantasy action
- OutRun (1986) - Ferrari racing
- Virtua Racing (1992) - early 3D racing
- Columns (1990) - puzzle game
- Monaco GP (1980) - early racing game
- Space Harrier (1985) - alien shooter
- Fantasy Zone (1985) - vibrant side-scrolling shoot-'em-up
- Tant R & Bonanza Bros (1992) - robber-themed puzzle game
