Xbox 360 Designer to Talk in London
If you want to see how Microsoft went from black and bulky to white and whimsical make your way down to the capital.
As videogame hardware companies try to wheedle their products into your living room entertainment system, the aesthetics of consoles becomes more important. Where the first Xbox was the Hummer H2 of the current generation, Xbox 360 is more a Bentley Continental for the next.
Next month you'll be able to hear how Microsoft made the transition from brute to beauty when Jonathan Hayes, head of the Xbox 360 design team, visits the UK to give a talk at the Design Museum in London.
During his eight years at Microsoft, Hayes has designed several of the company's top-selling keyboards and mice. For Xbox 360, he worked with design teams in San Francisco and Osaka to fashion a desirable piece of hardware for the next generation.
Hayes will be speaking at the Design Museum on Monday, 12 September, from 7.15pm to 8.00pm. Tickets cost £10 or £6 for museum supporters.
The Design Museum is located at Shad Thames, London SE1 2YD. For more details, visit the museum's website.
