Atari Shifts Time for New Shooter
Think of it as Blinx, but with the vibrant colours replaced with violent deaths.
Who wouldn't like to travel through time? Your days of missing the bus, wondering who will win the next FA Cup or wallowing in poverty would be history. But for Colonel Michael Swift, lead character in Atari's upcoming Xbox 360 game Time Shift, chrono-tourism is about to go horribly awry.
After Swift is sent back in time to plant a test probe, he returns to find a world completely different from the one he left behind. And since Swift is the only one around who knows how the world has changed, the oppressive government of his dystopian future is out to destroy him at all costs.
The game uses first-person mechanics and throws in a range of time-control elements, which allow you to slow, stop or reverse time to solve puzzles and restore order to the world.
Don't let the gloomy story get you down, though. The developers at Saber Interactive have also included less cerebral multiplayer modes for those of you more interested in online warfare than time travel.
Originally slated for release at the end of the year, the release date for Time Shift has been pushed back to spring 2006 for the Xbox 360 version. The Xbox and PC flavours are due the following summer.
