Touch the Dead in Resident Evil DS
Capcom proves that there's no such thing as a fully milked cow.
It's hard to believe but Capcom has already been scaring the pants off people with its Resident Evil series for nearly a decade. To celebrate the scare-'em-up series' 10th anniversary, the company is planning a revisit of the first Resident Evil game for DS, Japanese magazine Famitsu is reporting.
But Resident Evil: Deadly Silence is more than just a remake. Capcom has retooled the game and its puzzles to better take advantage of the unique control possibilities opened up by the DS hardware.
The top screen will be home to all your character information, letting you see at a glance your health status and which weapons you have equipped. The meat of the game takes place on the touch-screen, and Capcom has included new first-person elements that give you more direct control over the slaying, such as knifing zombies in the face using the stylus.
And since Resident Evil has been re-released a number of times already (most recently on GameCube), Capcom has aimed to keep the head scratching fresh too with brand new puzzles to exhilarate and confound you.
The game will apparently also use the DS's wireless connection but it's not yet known how.
Capcom has not mentioned when Resident Evil: Deadly Silence will be released, but with the 10th anniversary of the series in Japan coming in March 2006, it's a fair bet that we'll see the game around that time.
