World of Warcraft Swells Past 4m
Can anything stop the rampant success of the MMOG behemoth?
It took the phenomenally successful World of Warcraft seven months to gather 2 million subscribers to its massively multiplayer online game world. The next 2 million came in just nine weeks.
The latest surge in subscribers came as VU Games took the game to China, where it was met with rabid enthusiasm, thanks in large part to the company's efforts to team up with local experts to help Chinese gamers get comfortable in the game.
The game is also doing well in the US. More than a million Americans are currently roaming World of Warcraft's hills and valleys, making it the most successful MMOG ever in the country.
VU Games has worked at keeping those subscribers happy too, mostly by updating the game with new areas and features, allowing even expert players to get more out of the game.
