Brian Lara Makes it Four on Top
And it's not just because there's nothing else coming out.
It would be easy to say that Brian Lara International Cricket 2005 kept its top spot on the UK chart for another week simply because there were few new releases, but sales actually jumped by a third over the previous week, due in large part to England's Ashes victory at Trent Bridge - the constant television advertising didn't hurt either.
The first of a wave of new releases also hit, finally putting a youngling among the greybeards of the Top 10. Ubisoft's Ghost Recon 2: Summit Strike, the Xbox-exclusive expansion to the company's top-rated shooter, pulled in an impressive third place finish.
There's little else new on the charts, but look for that to change in a big way next week as Sony's PSP makes its much-delayed European debut on Thursday, 1 September.
Below are the top 10 games in the UK for the week ending 27 August, as determined by Chart Track:
- Brian Lara International Cricket 2005 (Codemasters)
- Madagascar (Activision)
- Ghost Recon 2: Summit Strike (Ubisoft)
- Destroy All Humans! (THQ)
- Lego Star Wars (Eidos)
- Juiced (THQ)
- Medal of Honor: European Assault (EA)
- Fantastic Four (Activision)
- Sonic 3D (Empire)
- Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Take 2)
