Konami Bringing Kaido Racer to Europe
Drift your way around the serpentine mountain paths of Japan. First screens.
Anyone who's ever watched the anime series Initial D knows that Japan's mountainous roads are an ideal venue for seat-of-your-pants racing thrills. Konami is tapping into this energy with a new driving game called Kaido Racer.
Unlike other racing games, Kaido Racer places more emphasis on special modes than on run-of-the-mill racing. Some modes task you with coming from behind to win races while others demand that you master the art of drifting through the perilous bends that could just as easily take your life.
Konami has secured a range of licenses for the game, which will see you laying down rubber in a 149-strong array of cars that includes Nissans, Subarus, Hondas and Alfa Romeos. Each is promised to have subtle differences, meaning you'll have to concentrate on picking the right car at the right time.
Kaido Racer will be out for PlayStation 2 this November.
