Final Fantasy IV Lands on GBA
It's another port for the Game Boy Advance, but at least this is one that fans have been clamouring for for years.
Square Enix sent millions of hearts flittering today with the announcement that it will be teaming up with Nintendo to bring RPG classic Final Fantasy IV to the Game Boy Advance.
This marks the third Final Fantasy game to make the jump to Nintendo's mighty portable - Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy II sneaked onto the Game Boy Advance towards the end of 2004 in the collection Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls.
So, will you just be playing the same game as you played back in the early '90s? Nobody knows right now. Nintendo has promised that the game will contain "additional game elements" to beef up the experience but there's no word on how substantial these will be.
More attentive readers will note that the company seems to have skipped Final Fantasy III, but Square Enix has already announced that there is a remake of the game in the works for the DS.
Final Fantasy IV is set for release on Game Boy Advance on 12 December in the US. Nintendo and Square Enix have yet to confirm that the game is coming to Europe but it seems a given that it will.
