GTA Trilogy to Xbox, Special to PS2
Proof that there's no such thing as too much Grand Theft Auto.
If you have an Xbox and you've somehow managed to let the Grand Theft Auto series bypass you (and shame on you if it has), you should be happy to hear that Rockstar is putting together just the package to get you running and gunning with seasoned veterans.
Grand Theft Auto Trilogy delivers what it says on the box - a collection of the three games that have sucked in millions of people around the world: Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and the recently controversial Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
While violence has been the lead talking point in the mainstream media, the series is better associated with its goal of bringing open game worlds to life, whether through the New York-stylings of the original game, the '80s Miami vibe of its sequel or the gang-themed California of the 1990s in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
Grand Theft Auto Trilogy is set for release on Xbox on 18 October in the US, with the European release to follow shortly thereafter. For more on the games in the series, check out Rockstar's official Grand Theft Auto site.
And while the trilogy is exclusive to Xbox, PlayStation 2 owners can also look forward to more Grand Theft Auto. Rockstar will be releasing a special edition of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas later this year that includes two new video features.
The first, The Introduction, is a vignette made using the game's engine that is set before the events that kick off Carl Johnson's rise in the San Andreas crime scene.
The second feature, Sunday Driver, is a far more ambitious project. This live-action documentary, directed by Carol Strong, takes you behind the scenes to meet some of the real people in the California car modification culture.
The movie focuses on the one particular car club, The Majestics, and delves into their lives and their passion for car modding. Sunday Driver will also be released on UMD for use on PSP.
