Sega's PS3 Exclusive FPS Exposed!
Take a look at three hot new videos from Fifth Phantom Saga, the upcoming PS3 exclusive from Sonic Team.
You could be forgiven for not knowing about Fifth Phantom Saga yet. When you put it against some of the other stuff set to be hot on PS3, it does seem a little underwhelming.
In fact, back at SCEA's PlayStation 3 conference in May, this Sonic Team game was pretty much the only trailer shown that got no reaction from the attendees whatsoever, not even a polite clap. Ouch. It's not that it looked crap or anything. But after just having watched the Killzone demo... well, yeah.
BUT. Here's the latest twist in the Fifth Phantom Saga, um, saga: it could actually be quite good! As you will see in this all-new hi-res trailer and exclusive gameplay footage, the game has quite a stylish edge that arguably looks completely different to the game that was shown in the first trailer from E3.
The bright coloured stuff from the first trailer is still present in the game, but now, we also see that the game has a grittier, realistic side to it as well. The older stuff we saw was constant sixty frames but these new areas drop here and there. It's weird, it is a bit like two different games. But it's the same game.
Anyway, we don't really know much else about Fifth Phantom Saga yet, and can't be bothered to call Sega and ask either. But to be honest, you'll be able to get a lot of the gist of what's going on in the realtime gameplay demonstration video below.
Look - it's a Sonic Team game, on PlayStation 3. Who cares if it doesn't look as good as MGS4? It might turn out to be the best thing ever. So get downloading!
Stay tuned for more on Fifth Phantom Saga.
