Sega Rally 2006: New Footage
New videos of the much-delayed sequel.
Sega first announced Sega Rally 2006 for the PS2 at last year's Tokyo Game Show, and although nothing was really heard about it for a while afterwards, it resurfaced at this year's show with a clever marketing technique that saw the "2005" changed to "2006", to make it sound more up-to-date. Clever huh?
Anyway. The game seemed pretty similar to last year's demo build to us. However, the last year of development seems to have been spent pretty well, with an impressive level of depth evidenced in the game's various play modes, such as Career Mode, which sees players in the usual situation of racing, upgrading parts and vehicles, and progressing through the championship.
With nice-looking courses set across Europe, Africa and Scandinavia, and an accessible, pick-up-and-play (yet challenging) game design, Sega Rally 2006 could well be a big hit for Sega.
We have two new videos to add to our collection from last year's gameplay videos - an extended trailer containing new information and stuff, as well as a direct feed CG-based trailer. Which is nice, if you like that kind of thing. Oh, and these screens are sort of new as well. So it hasn't been a complete waste of time, eh?
