Getting Intimate With Ridge Racer 6
Announced on the run and headed for release just as fast, Ridge Racer finally gets some screenshot action.
Namco surprised everyone by announcing support for Xbox 360 in the form of Ridge Racer 6, the latest game in a series that has traditionally been reserved for Sony's consoles. Despite the rapid-fire introduction and subsequent Tokyo Game Show appearance, Namco is prepping the game for the launch of Microsoft's next-gen console.
As the hordes of longtime fans know well, Ridge Racer eschews any simulation tendencies and instead focuses on seat-of-your-pants thrills and drift-heavy racing. The Xbox 360 version is no different.
What is different is a new focus on Xbox Live support. You'll be able to battle it out with adversaries around the world in several online modes. Namco is promising a wealth of downloadable content to add to the already-impressive roster of 130 vehicles.
That's not to say that the singleplayer mode has been ignored. The game comes with a range of offline content, including World Xplorer mode - a 230-race trek across the globe.
Ridge Racer 6 will launch alongside the Xbox 360 later this year.
