Quake IV Hits the Web
Id's other shooter finds itself a comfy locale on the Net.
With the hubbub surrounding Doom it's easy to forget about Id Software's other major franchise - Quake. Id, however, has not forgotten, and the latest in the series is already steaming to Xbox 360 and PC.
Quake IV picks up right where Quake II left off, with the otherworldly Strogg gathering their forces to make another attempt at harvesting planet Earth for all her juicy, nutritious life forms. You play Matthew Kane, part of a squad sent to the Strogg planet to bring down the vermin once and for all.
For all its thematic appeal, Quake IV is, ultimately, all about shooting stuff, and Id is excited about bringing this latest gorefest to the next generation of consoles. The game has been built using the Doom 3 engine, which has delighted first-person shooter fans so much since last year.
There's no timeframe in mind for the game's release yet, but you can get an idea of what to expect by checking out the Quake 4's official site.
