WoW Updates Before Expanding
Blizzard's massive online game keeps the updates coming.
World of Warcraft, the biggest and most popular online RPG ever, is getting that little bit bigger thanks to a new patch that arrives this week.
As with the previous patches, this latest, which brings the game to version 1.8, tweaks the experience, making it more fair for neophytes, and adds new content to give veteran players more to do. There's even a Halloween makeover for one of the game's areas.
The patch comes just as Blizzard prepares to release the first official expansion pack for World of Warcraft. The long-awaited update will be shown off for the first time at BlizzCon, Blizzard's celebration of its trove of games that is scheduled for the end of October.
After launching in US in late 2004, World of Warcraft has become ever more popular and it's now being played by well over 4 million people around the world.
