Archaeological Hijinks on the Xbox 360
No, it's not Indiana Jones, though it's not all that far from it. First screens.
With Steven Spielberg dragging his feet on the fourth Indiana Jones movie, others are stepping in to give people the action-packed archaeology they want. One such company is Spanish developer Silicon Garage Arts, which has announced work on a new next-gen game titled The Shadow of Aten.
The game puts you in the sand-filled boots of Allan Scott, "an attractive and enigmatic adventurer who will go deep into the fascinating and mysterious world of Ancient Egypt", according to the developer.
While in Egypt, Scott will delve into a conspiracy-laden plot that will take him to a bustling 1930's Cairo, the Valley of the Kings and other exotic - and no doubt hot - locales.
But there's more to the game than just fisticuffs and foraging. The creators have toed the line between entertainment and education in creating the game, which is filled with historical facts and a realistic take on the subject matter. The game will even come with a bonus DVD with documentary footage and other nuggets of information.
Don't pick up your whip quite yet, though. The Shadow of Aten isn't due to hit Xbox 360 and PC until the end of 2007.
