Sensible Soccer Returns in 2006
The big-headed, fan-favourite series and back and the team behind it is planning to put fun back into the game. First cranially-distorted screens.
More than a decade after its release, Sensible Soccer is still looked at by many people as one of the most fun footie games around. Little surprise then that Codemasters is gearing up to release a new version of the game next spring.
Sensible Soccer (the new one) brings the same "zoomed out camera " presentation of its forebear and updates it with full 3D cel-shaded graphics (including oversized heads). The gameplay has received a boost too and now features what Codemasters calls outrageous levels of after-touch.
The project has been gifted a sense of authenticity by the inclusion on the team of Jon Hare, the original game's producer and designer. Hare has promised that he and his team are working to bring fun back to the football experience:
"I don't want to put the boot into the other tired old footy game licenses out there but they're becoming predictable and boring and look very slow compared to the all new Sensi that we have up our sleeves."
Sensible Soccer will be released on PlayStation 2, Xbox and PC next spring to coincide with the series' 15th anniversary. The game will be out for PC, Xbox and PlayStation.
