Colossus Gears Up with ICO Re-Release
Just the thing if you're excited to slay monsters because you've heard they hype about its princess-leading spiritual predecessor.
Sony's Shadow of the Colossus has been high on the radars of avid gamers for the past year, since it was unveiled at last year's Tokyo Game Show. The game is being prepped for release in the UK now, and Sony is putting in an extra effort to educate gamers as to its history.
Before they worked on Shadow of the Colossus, the designers behind the game worked on cult hit ICO. That game has long since become hard to find, so Sony has taken the somewhat radical step of re-releasing ICO at Shadow of the Colossus's release in the UK in the new year.
While wholly different in gameplay, ICO and Shadow of the Colossus share the same DNA, being based as they are in strong emotional experiences and high artistic values. Both games feature limited but satisfying gameplay that belies the poor sales Sony has seen for the "series" so far.
You can experience the magic for yourself when both ICO and Shadow of the Colossus are released for PlayStation 2 in February. If you're interested in importing right now, why not check out our full review of the US version.
