Boosted GBA Final Fantasy IV Coming to Europe
Fears that the game will be ported over as is prove unfounded as Square Enix ladles in the good stuff. Euro release confirmed.
Final Fantasy IV is one of the most loved RPGs ever, so its impending re-release on the Game Boy Advance is getting fans salivating. The classic tale of heroism and loyalty is making the jump from the Super Nintendo (the game was only released in Europe on PlayStation), and thankfully Nintendo has seen fit to shoehorn in extras so that even series veterans will find something new to do.
The biggest addition to Final Fantasy IV Advance is a massive, 50-level dungeon that will push your characters to breaking point. Should you feel that they're not up to the task quite yet, you'll be able to take them through the new training dungeon, which should let you avoid some of the tedious levelling required in traditional role-playing games.
The Final Fantasy series' music, courtesy of Nobuo Uematsu, has always played a large part in the experience. For this re-release, Square Enix has gone back in to the archives to "enhance" the game's score. Better still, you'll be able to listen to your favourite tracks using the included music player.
Square Enix has given the game's story a jostle too. While the key story of the dark knight Cecil's abandonment of his mad king and his search for justice and redemption is intact, you'll be able to catch new glimpses through character switching.
Final Fantasy IV is out for Game Boy Advance in the US on 12 December. Square Enix has yet to confirm whether the game is coming to Europe but a source at Nintendo has revealed to Kikizo that it will be arriving at some point.
