Sega Brings Rabbits and Monkeys to DS
Project Rub sequel and a first Super Monkey Ball game coming to the DS early next year. Screens and details inside.
One of the earliest games on the DS that truly used the handheld's unique control options was Sega's Project Rub. Never one to rest on its laurels, Sega is back with not only a sequel to the popular love/rub adventure but also a brand new Super Monkey Ball game designed just for DS.
The biggest criticism most people had for Project Rub was that it was too short, so the developers have crammed more into Rub Rabbits! (previously known as Where Do Babies Come From?) to extend the experience. In the game you'll touch, rub, blow and more through 35 chapters as you go up against a dozen opponents to win the affection of the game's love interest.
Don't worry if you're not one for stories. Sega has included the individual minigames for you to play through either on your own in a variety of singleplayer modes or with friends using the WiFi multiplayer modes.
Super Monkey Ball Touch & Roll is, as you would imagine, Super Monkey Ball played using the stylus instead of the regular controller stick. There are a total of 50 new levels strewn across the game's five worlds.
The popular multiplayer modes from the series are back as well and now you'll be able to play them via WiFi. Four game types from previous Super Monkey Ball games have returned: boxing, golf, bowling and racing.
Two new modes been created just for this version. These have you using the encased simians in hockey and something called Monkey Wars - Sega hasn't gone into too much detail on what the last one is yet.
Both Rub Rabbits! and Super Monkey Ball Touch & Roll are slated to arrive on the DS next winter. Look for our full interview with Sonic Team soon.
