Bookies Tap Narnia for Yuletide Glory
Although with a few weeks still to go, you may want to reconsider betting your 13th checque on it right away.
While the rest of Britain hunkers down to figure out who will have the No. 1 pop single this Christmas, gamers are more concerned about which game will pick up the crown. Before you head down to the bookies, though, perhaps you better hear what Ladbrokes and industry body ELSPA have to say.
After much numbers crunching and trend spotting (and a fair bit of crystal ball gazing, no doubt), the pair has tapped movie tie-in Chronicles of Narnia to come out on top this Christmas. The 3/1 odds make it twice as likely to hit the top as joint-second placers King Kong, Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire and Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones.
Despite its PSP exclusivity and an exclusionary18-only age restriction, Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories has odds of 16/1 while the highest placing Xbox 360 game is Microsoft's Project Gotham Racing 3 at 25/1.
There's will surely be much jockeying over the coming weeks, so expect these numbers to get overwritten often.
Spongebob fans be warned, though - the bath accessory-faced character's latest game stands an outside chance of just 50/1.
