First Reports of Broken 360s
But Microsoft is quick to defend its new hardware. Full response inside.
The Xbox 360 went on sale in the US early on Tuesday morning and it didn't take too long for the first complaints to come in. As with other complicated electronics equipment, the Microsoft's new box is susceptible to all manner of bugs, and the company insists that what people are seeing are isolated incidents.
There appear to be several different issues with some Xbox 360s at the moment, with overheating being a common complaint. There are also reports of games crashing the system and the system crashing while browsing through the newly revamped interface.
Microsoft has been quick to comment that what people are seeing are isolated malfunctions and that the reports are not evidence of a problem common to all Xbox 360s.
"The vast majority of Xbox 360 owners are having an outstanding experience with their new systems," a spokesperson told games news site Next Generation.
"We've received a few isolated reports of consoles not working as expected. The call rate is well below what you'd expect for a consumer electronics product of this complexity."
