New Site Helps Parents Pick Games
Now parents have no excuse for buying games not suitable for their kids - still liable for buying them crap like 50 Cent: Bulletproof.
A recent study commissioned by ELSPA showed that parents don't understand the age ratings on games, so the organization has launched a new site to explain to parents what games are appropriate for their kids before they run out to buy Christmas presents.
Askaboutgames.com helps parents understand the age rating symbols placed on the covers of all games. While parents know about other ratings systems, such as for music and movies, there is misapprehension that games are still "just for kids".
The site comes is parts of ELSPA's response to a study presented at the International Games Summit this summer where researchers found that parents either didn't understand what the ratings meant or weren't aware of the kind of content in games directed at the majority, twentysomething segment of the games buying public.
Ratings have come under fire again over the past year as games made the news in part through their association with attacks and even murder in the UK.
If you want to find out more about age ratings before buying that hot new game for your child, head over to askaboutgames.com.
