Onimusha, Devil May Cry Devs Craft New Shooter
And with a pedigree like that, you just know that there's going to be a lot of bullets involved. First screens.
In an age of ever more shooters, describing your game as a "riveting sci-fi action shooter" that pits man against his environment and otherworldly beasts hardly does it any favours. Capcom does however have another, much better hook for Lost Planet.
The new game, scheduled for release next year on Xbox 360, is being developed by the creators of two of its most popular franchises: Onimusha and Devil May Cry.
This pedigree will, hopefully, give you an idea of what to expect, but there's no confirmation coming from Capcom, which is steering clear of putting too many words behind the game yet.
As mentioned above, the harsh arctic environment would appear to be a big player in the outcome of the game. Lost Planet seems to emphasise the singleplayer experience over its networked counterpart. There's also a heavy vehicular component that sees you in and out of suitably decked-out armoured cars.
Fittingly, Capcom has earmarked next winter as the release period for Lost Planet.
