Black Brings Gun Porn to Consoles
Burnout creators Criterion swap cars for guns in this outrageous new shooter. Brand new must-see gameplay footage.
What happens when you take the team behind the insanely popular and outrageously destructive Burnout driving series and let them get their hands on the first-person shooter genre? You get something like Black.
Variably described as gun porn and pure bedlam, Black is Criterion's take on the already-violent gunplay that populates store shelves. The team has been working with a single goal in mind: to destroy as much as possibly as fantastically as possible.
There's a perfunctory plot threaded through the game that involves a Special Forces unit and ne'er-do-wells in ex-Soviet Europe, but the real story is the violence and utter destruction you're allowed to unleash in each of the locales.
A lot of the game will necessarily take place in crumbling urban environments, but even tranquil forests prove futile in holding back the humming gunfire. Some shooters advocate ammo conservation. Black does not.
"Every bullet fired in Black has a destination," says Criterion. "When it reaches that destination it has an effect. Chunks get torn from buildings, plumes of dust emanate from destroyed concrete, pillars deform from constant gunfire, and signposts collapse from their bindings."
Black will be out for PlayStation 2 and Xbox across Europe on 24 February.
