Call Of Duty 2, Quake 4 Get New Maps
Let go and shoot in all-new places, as hot Activision shooters get the map treatment.
Christmas is, traditionally, the time for giving, so Activision has put together a little something for you. Over the next few weeks, fans of two of its biggest shooter franchises will be able to get at new maps and content, some of which the company is giving away for nothing.
With id's other big shooter series, Quake, just hitting Xbox 360, the time has come for the PC version to get gussied up. To this end, id has put together the Quakemas Map Pack.
This sensibly titled collection includes three new maps that have been designed to cover as many of the most popular game modes as possible. You'll even be able to replay the Campgrounds map from Quake III in a newly revamped version of the classic locale.
On the other end of the thematic spectrum is the ultra-realistic Call Of Duty 2 - also a recent Xbox 360 arrival. For this update, developer Infinity Ward has put together an unspecified number of new multiplayer maps.
And that's not all. Because nobody likes a cheater, the developer is bringing in new anti-cheat measures so that next time you die you know it's because you're terrible at the game and not that someone is getting an unfair advantage.
The Quakemas Map Pack is available for free right now from id's site. The bonus content for Call Of Duty 2 will be ready sometime early in the new year. For more information, visit the game's official site.
