New GTA Games for PSP and PS2
Vice City Stories and San Andreas Stories possible for PSP, while Liberty City Stories makes its way onto PS2.
The Grand Theft Auto franchise has been as close to a license to print money for Rockstar as it is likely to get, so the news that there are two more instalments coming this year should be good news for everyone.
Hidden within the company's latest financial statement is the verification that there are two new games in the series coming to Sony platforms.
PlayStation 2 owners green with envy at their PSP counterparts' mobile fun in Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories now have no reason to froth. The game has been confirmed for a console, perhaps as soon as this spring. Rockstar has not yet revealed how closely the game will ape its portable forebear.
It's a move that should raise eyebrows with many watchers, not least at Sony, which has relied to some extent on the game to sell PSPs in the face of little else in the way of new software for the sexy system embroiled in battle with the DS.
Sony can at least take heart in the second piece of Grand Theft Auto news, which confirms that there is at least one further portable version in the works for the PSP, with sources suggesting to Kikizo that Liberty City Stories will now be followed up with Vice City Stories and San Andreas Stories, based on the second and third in the console trilogy respectively.
The next, next GTA in the series however, a proper new installment to follow San Andreas, is said to be a PS3 exclusive.
There are no details for any of the upcoming games yet, but Rockstar will likely start teasing gamers and the media alike with snippets soon.
