Britons Sate Their Need for Speed
Will anything knock EA's driving game off its perch? Something? Please?
No new games in the weeks after Christmas means that things are looking very familiar on the weekly UK sales charts. For yet another week, EA's latest driving juggernaut, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, has come out as Britain's favourite.
And it did so easily. King Kong, the video game adaptation of Peter Jackson's latest epic, has troubled Need for Speed: Most Wanted since launch and even came out tops on one occasion, but the simian found himself handily thrashed this week.
The only real mover on the charts is The Sims 2, which now finds itself in the top half of the Top 10. Publishers are still holding off on releasing any major new games, so we could be looking at a similar roster for at least another week or so, before the games delayed past Christmas start to arrive.
Below are the top 10 games in the UK for the week ending 31 December, as determined by Chart Track:
- Need for Speed: Most Wanted (EA)
- King Kong (Ubisoft)
- FIFA 06 (EA)
- The Sims 2 (EA)
- Pro Evolution Soccer 5 (Konami)
- Prince of Persia: Two Thrones (Ubisoft)
- Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire (EA)
- Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories (Rockstar)
- Shadow the Hedgehog (Sega)
- Gun (Activision)
