Street Fighter II Kicks Onto Live Arcade
Legendary Capcom fighting game comes to Xbox Live Arcade in early 2006.
If you're one of the millions of Street Fighter fans that just can't stop themselves from buying every new version Capcom produces, you'll need to start preparing yourself for another instalment. The company has announced that the venerable fighting series is coming to Xbox Live Arcade.
Street Fighter II' Hyper Fighting, as this latest incarnation of the 15-year-old game is known, brings all the standard offline modes, but the real meat of this version is to be found online.
Probably the most notable is the new Quarter Match, which is basically a virtualisation of the arcades that birthed the series. You'll be able to watch players duke it out and when you're ready you can place down a virtual token, giving you the next turn at the controls. You'll even be able to use your headset to jeer your opponent or even the two players you're waiting on.
A limited demo version will be ready in "early 2006" to give you a taste of what to expect. Once hooked, all you need to do is pay for the full version and you'll be magically whisked away to the '80s for heated pugilism.
