Hoes at the Ready for Harvest Moon Duo
GameCube and DS soon to be overrun by wanna-be-farmers.
Videogame farming has always been a niche genre but it's one that the Harvest Moon series has filled with aplomb. After something of a dry spell for the series, publisher Rising Star has announced that it has a set of games from the popular series coming to Nintendo platforms this spring.
For the DS offering, simply called Harvest Moon DS, the creators have tried to bring into play the unique hardware of the portable. While the game will be reminiscent of earlier Game Boy Advance instalments in appearance, you'll be able to use the stylus and touch-screen for all sorts of farm fun, such as sheering sheep, milking cows and stroking your animals.
Harvest Moon: Magical Melody, on the other hand, is much more like its GameCube predecessor, Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life. Once again you're back on the farm, toiling for love and profit, though some of the farm mechanics have been given a once-over. You'll also be able to choose to play as either a boy or a girl from the start.
Harvest Moon DS and Harvest Moon: Magical Melody should both be in stores this spring.
