The Godfather Set for March Release
We were going to adapt a Brando quote and then thought everyone else will, so why bother.
One of the biggest games of last Christmas was meant to be EA's The Godfather, but an unexpected delay put paid to that reality. The delay was bad for EA, which even took a beating on Wall Street because of it. That, however, will soon be set right, as the company has confirmed you'll be starting your life of organised crime come this March, according to trade paper MCV.
The Godfather plays out slightly differently to how you might imagine. Instead of casting you as one of the main characters, you play a neophyte in the Corleone family and work your way up through the ranks, gaining respect and cracking skulls as you progress. Violence may be near the top of the list of ways to get what you want, but in this game it's not the only way.
The big names from the films are still there though. EA made sure to create as authentic a recreation as possible and brought in Marlon Brando (Vito Corleone), Robert Duvall (Tom Hagen), James Caan (Sonny Corleone) and several others to reprise their roles - no Pacino, sadly.
The Godfather will be out for PlayStation 2, Xbox and PC on 24 March with an Xbox 360 version coming later. In the meantime, practise your Brando impression while perusing our recent interview with the game's creative director, Phil Campbell, or visiting EA's new official Godfather site.
