World of Warcraft Does a Million in EU
Blizzard's massively online game swells bigger yet, passing milestones and laughing off the competition.
The world of Azeroth is swelling by the day and Blizzard couldn't be happier. The company revealed this week that subscriptions for its massively multiplayer online hit World of Warcraft have hit a million in Europe after less than a year.
World of Warcraft has been a phenomenon since launch. After a solid start in the US, the game has since spread across Europe, Japan and all over Asia, drawing in millions as it does. There are now more than 5.5 million subscribers.
While the Warcraft name has a lot to do with World of Warcraft's success, what keeps gamers coming back is Blizzard's dedication to the game. Nearly a dozen updates have been released since the game debuted in the US in November 2004 and Blizzard is prepping the first full expansion, World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade for release later this year.
