Tiny Tokobots Swarm the PSP in Europe
Tecmo mixes cutesy robots and a save-the-world story in a unique game for the PSP. New screens.
The prognosticators lied. The 21st century is upon us and there are no flying cars, no self-cleaning toilets. Robots, however, are here, and they're the brains behind Tecmo's latest PSP title, Tokobot, which is coming to the UK courtesy of Take 2 later this year.
Lead character Bolt is your average young archaeologist, working hard at unearthing the history of an ancient though technologically advanced civilisation. But when nefarious ne'er-do-wells make known their plans to plunge the world into evil using their newly rediscovered powers, it's up to Bolt and the helper Tokobot robots to save the day.
While the plot may be not challenge Hemingway, the helpful robots would surely overcome the hirsute novelist. You command a swelling squad of Tokobots that are able to work together in various formations. The landscape is a puzzle and you'll have to figure out how to use your robot helpers to navigate it.
Game modes are the standard array of story-based and time-attack variants with a smattering of mini-games thrown in for good measure. Unlike most other PSP titles, there's no wireless multiplayer shoehorned in here.
Sound like your cup of robots? Tokobot will be out only for PSP in March. For more of an idea of what to expect, check out Tecmo's site.
