SCi Boom Yields More Lara and Lego
A big year for Eidos's new owner means that the company's brands will be seeing a bit more action this year.
You wouldn't necessarily think of Lego as a cash cow for a game maker, but it turns out it is. SCi announced through trade paper MCV this week that thanks to the excellent performance of last year's Lego Star Wars, the blocks will be back for another go, though not quite as you might expect.
The next Lego game does away with the Star Wars theme (which helped net the game 3 million in sales) and is instead based on Lego's Bionicle line of toys. There aren't any details yet for the game, which isn't due until next year, but you can expect it to keep the true-to-life Lego feel of the previous title.
SCi's newfound wealth will also be put to good use on the Tomb Raider franchise, which is set for what many pray will be a triumphant turn later this year in Tomb Raider: Legend.
The company has revealed that not only is there also a PSP edition in the works, but there's also a 10th anniversary special edition slated for release later this year.
