Far Cry Creators in Crysis Talks
Ubisoft seems to be the loser as EA snaps up the next game from German developer Crytek.
Franchises are all the rage these days, so it's good to see that Crytek, developer of the award-winning and mind-blowing PC shooter Far Cry, is not just working on more of the same but is rather striking out with a brand new game.
Keeping with the introverted naming scheme, Crytek has christened its new PC first-person shooter Crysis. Unfortunately, that's about all that the creator or publisher EA is revealing about the game at the moment.
The company line is that Crysis brings, "a new kind of gameplay challenge requiring adaptive tactics and customisation of weapons and armour in dynamic, hostile environments". We also know that the game is set during an alien invasion, marking a rather wide thematic departure from Far Cry.
Crytek is being ambitious with its new charge. Company boss Cevat Yerli says Crysis will, "offer gamers from all over the world the next step in FPS gaming."
EA has not yet said when we can expect Crysis to see release, but if the game follows a similar track to its predecessor, we may be waiting until next year for see if Yerli's boast is empty or not.
