Halo 3 to Miss Another Christmas
There's no doubt that there's a lot riding on the success of the next Halo game and Microsoft is making sure that Bungie gets all the time it needs.
Many would like to think of Halo 3 as the ultimate ace up Microsoft's sleeve in the battle against Sony, not least Microsoft itself. Bill Gates said as much when he told Time magazine last year that the game would come out at the same time as the PlayStation 3. In January Gates went back on that, and now it seems Halo 3 won't be out in 2006 at all.
The rumours stem from an apparent internal e-mail from US retail giant GameStop, posted by game site Kotaku. In the e-mail, someone who appears to be a manager at the retailer says, "Microsoft has stated Halo 3 WILL NOT be released in 2006".
Though the authenticity of the e-mail is in doubt, Microsoft and Bungie have said all along that Halo 3 will only be out when it's ready.
Expectedly, Microsoft has refused to quell the rumours.
