The Rise of the Gamer Parent
New survey shows that younger parents are getting their game on - with and without their kids.
Gamers are girlfriend-less teenage boys and twentysomething men still living with their parents, right? Not quite.
According to a recent study, around a third of all US parents are now playing games, and not just with their children. What's more, most of the parents who played game with their kids said they felt it brought them closer together.
Of the 35 per cent of so-called gamer parents, 80 per cent play with their children, says a study by the Entertainment Software Association. Gamer parents are on average 37 years old and spend nearly 20 hours a month playing games - split evenly between playing with the kids and alone.
They're also not new recruits to games, with the average gamer parent having played computer or video games for 13 years.
