Dead or Alive Booted From UK Top Spot
The Xbox 360's taste of fame proves relatively shortlived as EA's racer gets on top - again.
Last week's dominance of the sales chart by Tecmo's Dead or Alive 4 for Xbox 360 could have been a one-off or it could have been a sign that things are turning around for Microsoft's stock situation. It seems that a run on top was not meant to be.
Instead, this week Need for Speed: Most Wanted is back on top of the UK sales chart for the ninth week since it was released late in 2005. Things aren't completely lost for Microsoft, though, as there are still two Xbox 360-exclusive titles in the Top 20.
There wasn't much in the way of new releases, but Ubisoft did time its latest rugby game, Rugby Challenge 2006, to coincide with the Six Nation tournament. The game sneaked into the upper ranks of the chart.
The increasing promotion of the upcoming Torino Winter Olympics also helped that event's tie-in to storm up the charts, jumping 25 places to No. 13.
Below are the top 10 games in the UK for the week ending 4 February, as determined by Chart Track:
- Need for Speed: Most Wanted (EA)
- The Sims 2 (EA)
- Pro Evolution Soccer 5 (Konami)
- FIFA 06 (EA)
- King Kong (Ubisoft)
- Dead or Alive 4 (Tecmo)
- Rugby Challenge 2006 (Ubisoft)
- Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories (Rockstar)
- Call of Duty 2 (Activision)
- Star Wars: Battlefront II (LucasArts)
