Armored Core Smashes Onto PSP, PS2
If hot mech-on-mech action is what you're after, hot mech-on-mech action is what you're going to get, whether you're home or away. New screens for both.
A healthy hankering to get behind the controls of a 50-ft robot is never a bad thing, especially not when you can live our your calamitous fantasies in video game form. Good thing, then, that publisher 505 Gamestreet is bringing the latest Armored Core games to Europe.
Yes, we said games. Not only will you have another chance to control the lumbering beasts on the PlayStation 2 in the form of Armored Core: Nine Breaker, you'll also be able to bring the bedlam on the road with you in Armored Core: Formula Front - Extreme Battle for the PSP.
The latter is an expanded edition of the original PSP game, which launched alongside the handheld in Japan. This latest iteration contains obligatory WiFi multiplayer modes and allows you to customize your mechs.
Much more permissive is Armored Core: Nine Breaker, which lets you assemble your own mechs from a parts library numbering over 400, making for thousands of combinations. You'll be able to test your creations in the goal-based Hardcore Training mode before going robot-on-robot in Arena Combat.
Armored Core: Formula Front - Extreme Battle will be out for PSP on 24 February for £29.;99. The PlayStation 2 instalment, Armored Core: Nine Breaker, comes in at the bargain price of £19.99 on 31 March.
