Yakuza: Ryuga Gotoku Comes West
Sega's highly acclaimed yakuza game from Toshihiro Nagoshi is coming to the West later this year. Hooray.
Of all the world's underground organisations there are few as enigmatic as the yakuza of Japan, and later this year, you'll get a chance to live out a life of intrigue and crime in Sega's highly acclaimed PlayStation 2 action game Yakuza, previously known as Ryuga Gotoku in Japan and covered in detail on this site.
Yakuza straps you into the life of Kiryu Kazuma, a former yakuza member recently released after a ten-year stint in prison. When a woman and a lot of money throw his life into disarray, it's up to Kiryu to fight his way to the truth.
Action is courtesy of a combo-heavy system that also lets you build up super attacks using the so-called Heat Gauge. You can also use whatever's around you to beat up your foes, and the more you fight the better you'll get.
A big player in the Yakuza experience is Tokyo itself, which has been meticulously recreated, right down to the real shops that line the city street.
