Bethesda Finishes Up Oblivion for 360
Gather your cheesy poofs. The first big RPG for the Xbox 360 is just about ready.
Xbox 360 owners have had a lot to crow about, with most popular genres already well represented on the system, but one was lacking: RPGs. That gaping maw will soon be filled though as 2K Games has confirmed that the latest in the life-sapping Elder Scrolls series is steaming to stores later this month.
Originally scheduled to launch alongside the console, Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion is a freeform RPG focussed on letting you do whatever you want to do. After creating a fully customisable character, you take to the world, seeing off evil and seeking to bring order back to the land by filling the realm's dangerously empty throne.
Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind was a hit on Xbox and sucked down many hours of gamers' lives. The good news is that you can expect even more this time around.
"Our most ambitious project ever is finally done," said developer Bethesda's Todd Howard. "We're excited to get the game into everyone's hands and let them experience it for themselves. We hope they enjoy it. I think it's our best game yet."
Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion will be out for Xbox 360 in North America and Europe during the week of 20 March.
