Rainbow Six Squad Storms Las Vegas
First details for the next-generation debut of team Rainbow Six. Oh, and it's coming later this year.
They've been all over the world in pursuit of justice, but for the Rainbow Six team's generational jump, they're heading to the US, to fight terrorists in the nation's capital of seediness. Welcome to Las Vegas, team Rainbow Six.
Details are currently scarce for the next-gen debut of Ubisoft's acclaimed shooter series. We know that like its stable-mate Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter, Rainbow Six Vegas eschews globetrotting and takes a more focussed approach. Terrorists are holding the city of vice hostage, and only our men can stop the evildoers.
Rainbow Six Vegas is in development at Ubisoft Montreal, home to the Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia franchises. The team is promising to "push technology through graphics, artificial intelligence, physics and animations".
Ubisoft hasn't specifically mentioned how Rainbow Six Vegas will handle online play, but considering that it was one of the big reasons for the success of the previous versions, it's a fair bet that online play will be a key part of the experience.
The good news is that we won't have to wait long to see how the game turns out. Ubisoft is expecting to deliver the game for current- and next-generation consoles and PC as soon as this autumn.
