Zelda Playable With Revolution Controller
Nintendo fans wet themselves thinking of the possibilities. Official confirmation inside.
For Zelda fans, the big question this year has been whether or not the new GameCube game, Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, will be playable using the Revolution controller. The surprisingly blunt answer from Nintendo: Yes.
The timing of the game's release and its long and unsatisfactorily explained delays - it was supposed to be out at the end of last year - led many to suspect that the game would be able to use the fancy new controller of the Revolution (which plays GameCube discs directly).
When Shigeru Miyamoto spoke to Nintendo's official Europe site this week, after being knighted in France, he said the game would be playable using the Revolution controller, without clarifying whether that meant by simply mimicking the GameCube controller or by using the motion-sensing technology of the new console.
"One of the most important features is that, because Revolution can run GameCube software, when you play Twilight Princess on Revolution you can take advantage of the Revolution controller," Miyamoto told Nintendo's European site.
Nintendo came good with specifics this week, though. A spokesperson for the company told UK trade paper MCV: "We can confirm that Zelda: The Twilight Princess will indeed have added Revolution functionality whilst remaining a Nintendo GameCube title."
There's nothing more than that for now, but the possibilities opened up should have Nintendo fans reeling. Expect much more on this at the company's E3 showing in May.
