Bus Driver Fired for Gaming on the Go
Whiling away your time on public transport is one of the perks of portable systems, but perhaps you should tone that down if you're the one at the wheel.
Passengers on Steve Allcock's bus knew something was awry when their usually quiet trip around Blackburn was interrupted by terrified screams coming from the driver's seat. Like many young men, Allcock's time is oftentimes sucked up by the PSP. Few of them, however, play it while driving a bus.
Allcock's bosses at Blackburn Transport fired him after reviewing CCTV footage that showed the driver whiling away time during his shift by playing Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories with the PSP on his knees. Passengers told the Sun that Allcock played his PSP while parked at red lights and even while driving.
Transport officials were, naturally, appalled by Allcock's reckless disregard for public safety.
"It is horrifying," a spokesperson for the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents told the Sun. "If something went wrong how would the driver react quickly?"
