Eidos Has Just Cause for Xbox 360
Island-based regime change now coming to the next generation. First HD screens.
Stop us if you've heard this one before. A small nation is accused of housing weapons of mass destruction, and with the spectre of bedlam looming large the CIA decides that regime change is the order of the day. Welcome to Just Cause, Eidos' upcoming open-ended action game for Xbox 360.
Just Cause is set not in war-torn Iraq but rather in the fictional South American island nation of San Esperito. With more than a thousand square miles of island at your disposal, how you bring about an overthrow of the corrupt government is up to you.
Developed by the Swedes at Avalanche Studios, Just Cause promises much to do and many ways to do it. There are more than 300 missions available to you and "close to endless opportunities" to play them.
According to the developers you'll be able to tackle your task however you please, whether that be through manipulation of internal factions or by blatant support of the rebel forces and drug cartels. Gunplay is prominent but there's also a wealth of vehicles to command, including bikes, boats and choppers.
Just Cause was originally announced for release on PC, PlayStation 2 and Xbox this autumn. Eidos has this week confirmed that an Xbox 360 version is on the way too, which the developers say will help them realize their true vision.
