Silent Hill Collected for PS2
With the movie's debut right around the corner, Konami is going to help neophytes and slackers get up to speed.
It's a good bet that more people will taste Silent Hill for the first time through Christophe Gans' movie adaptation than ever did through the iconic survival horror series. But just in case the newbies are looking to spend more time in the sleepy burg, Konami is collecting the three latest games in a limited edition pack due later this year.
The appropriately named Silent Hill Collection brings together all three of the PlayStation 2 games in the series to date, including Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill 3, and Silent Hill 4: The Room. We can only imagine that Konami is skipping the first PlayStation game because it would look dated by comparison to its PlayStation 2 siblings.
While the three games have their differences (especially the fourth, which didn't even start life as a Silent Hill game), they are all centred on the spooky town and its dark history, which you delve into through puzzle solving and tense bouts of limited-ammo combat.
There are no extras to any of the games, but then, as Konami's Martin Schneider explained, this is being done to bring the history of the series to moviegoers interested in finding more.
Silent Hill Collection will be out in April, just in time for the movie's global release.
