Halo 3 Delayed to March
The game that has yet to be officially announced has been unofficially delayed. Maybe.
The worst thing about the end of March is that it becomes harder to tell which news is news and which is just an April Fool's joke. So it's with some trepidation that we relay information that Halo 3 will not be out this year and will instead launch in spring 2007.
An unnamed source apparently within Microsoft revealed to IGN that the eagerly awaited debut of Master Chief would miss the crucial Christmas season. Instead, the source said, the game would only arrive next March - not long before the movie adaptation hits.
While certainly possible, this goes against Microsoft's company line. Earlier this year Microsoft's Shane Kim hinted that Halo 3 - or whatever it will be known as, since no game named Halo 3 has officially been announced - would be out before the end of the year.
When asked by Next Generation whether Halo 3 would hit in 2006, Kim said: "It depends. If it's the game that everyone is expecting then, yes. For us it's about making a proper impact on the platform. It has to be something with huge significance, so we won't be rushed."
Not surprisingly, Microsoft has refused to comment on the story. The company is still refusing to acknowledge the game's existence (probably because it doesn't want to steal attention away from other big hitters, such as Gears of War), but we should see something soon.
